Child Care Statement of Purpose
The Seacoast Family YMCA will provide children a full before and after school program, which reflects and responds to the needs, skills, and abilities of the participants. Since children's needs are diverse, the program provides for all aspects of child development; physical, intellectual, emotional and social. Further, the child's development is fostered through his/her participation in a planned program of instructional and social interactions.
Programming provides a balanced and safe environment with a sufficient amount of adult supervision to ensure quality care. While providing a safe environment, staff will encourage childeren to get involved, ask questions, and explore within a stable, familiar environment. The setting of learning and playing is designed for the child to develop self-esteem, initiative and leadership skills and to practice the four basic values of Character Development: Respect, Responsibility, Caring and Honesty.
The Seasoast YMCA will not descriminate against anyone on the basis of race, religion, age, cultural heritage, political beliefs, physical ability, sexual orientation, marital status or national origin. The Seacoast Family YMCA child care programs are licensed by the State of New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services.
Child Watch (Prime Time) Baby Sitting
Prime Time child watch allows parents to drop their kids off while they're in the building and grab a workout. Please call the front desk for scheduling with regard to this service.
After School Care
After School care is available for Portsmouth schools for children in K through 5th grade. Registration forms (in the Parent Handbook) are available to be downloaded and should be returned to the front desk at the Seacoast Family YMCA.
The concept of the YMCA Child Care Program is to provide five-day-a-week continuous activities. Thus, we encourage five-day-a-week participation but will accept registration for a minimum of one day of contracted care per week.
